Mancat Monday- Winter Solstice

Late yesterday afternoon we started to get some snow
from the big storm that hit the eastern US very hard.
This is a part of our deck in the afternoon.

Mom took this picture at 10 PM
We have about 2.5 inches of snow.
Mom hopes it stops soon,hahaha
She says we have enough for a white Christmas!!

See the lights glowing through the snow!!

"The holly and the ivy, when they were both full grown,
Of all the trees that are in the wood, the holly bears the crown. . .

I am the Holly King, Lord of the Waning Year. You may know me as
the Green Man or as the Winter King.
I rule from Midsummer to Midwinter, and my reign culminates
in the festivities of Yuletide.
As the wren dies to make way for the robin,
soon I will bow before my brother the Oak King.
You will not see me again until the Sun once more begins to wane.
As I prepare to withdraw into the deep midwinter,
I contemplate the glowing light of the reborn Sun in my cup —
and in this holy grail, I see visions and dreams of the year to come.

Carry a sprig of holly with you as my token.
It will protect you against fierce winter storms,
and will bestow upon you the focus, direction and
courage you need to succeed in your own spiritual quest.

Fill your homes with holly this season! Deck the halls!
My evergreen leaves and bright red berries,
seen against the barren oaks of winter, will remind you
of the Life that sustains us during the bitterest time of the year."
- The Holly King

Also, today is Tall Son's birthday!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if Moe,Mindy,Bono,Mike & Cookie
will throw a party for him! heehee

We got maybe 3 to 4 inches here. Auntie and mom are very mean, they are laughing at all the people that are snowed in, saying it's your turn now.
Sheesh. Do you think they would have some compassion?

Happy birthday to Tall Son!

We just missed the tail end of that storm in Montreal, but Mom says we still have enough from a storm a few weeks ago to ensure we have a white Christmas too!

Happy Solstice Mickey! I love the Holly and the Ivy song. Those would be cute cat names. :)
I wondered if you would get that nasty snow. Soon the Sun will win out over the darkness and spring will come. Hurry up please!
I am glad your check up went well. You are so much like Cody! I hope your sisters are feeling good too.
I was saddened to learn about Prinnie. I called her a little lambie pie kitty...
I hope you all have a peaceful and happy holiday season.
Lots of Hugs,
Lorianna

Happy Solstice. No snow here, but it certainly was dark early.

We really like the picture with the lights beneath the snow, with the glowing colors spreading out.

I think almost all that I know got the white stuff dumped on them. It is so pretty with the light shinning through. I liked your song and I must say your holiday photo of you is really nice.
Happy Solstice to you and your family.

Hello Mickey, you are a good friend.
We got two feets of the snow and it is pretty nice for now. the Washington DC area is not so prepared for snow removal and clearing so we have to be patient.
Yesterday we took Princess's body to Alexandria Virginia to a nice place called Sunset. The drive was not too bad, just some bad drivers making foolish decisions.
today we will pick up her ashes.
I printed out your beautiful tribute and I will make a collage for Lizzie. she is hurting as this whole ordeal is hitting her like a flood. I have had time to rationalize, but I know the anguish she is experiencing. Caesar left us suddenly and it was very hard.

Happy birthday to your tall son. Happy Winter and Merry Christmas

love always

Dear Sweet Mickey, Georgia, Tillie and your special person,

Thank you so much for the beautiful and thoughtful Christmas card. I liked it very much. The Food Lady got all misty eyed and said things like, "The CB kitties and people are the best!"

Your blog pics and post make the Food Lady homesick for her childhood place near Lake Ontario during Christmas. But she tells you that every year!

Thank you all for your kind words, for always checking in with us, and for being such loyal kittie and bean pals.

Purrs and paws from your friends in cold, but crystal clear San Francisco,

Indeed the holly wears the crown! Wish we could grow it here in this climate...it is just too hot in the summer and dry. Oh my dearest how pretty the photo is of the snow covered lights on you patio! It shows that no matter what comes, light will shine through the darkness!! It will shine in our hearts again also this time of year no matter how sad we are. I have enjoyed your visits so much of late and all the words you left for me to ponder...you look so deep in thought surrounded by the snowflakes in your graphic.
I will go back to bed now....don't ask me where I am sleeping or mommy will be upset with me again.
Much love from your wifeycatXOXOXOX
