This past weekend,Mom said we had a very big moon!
It is called a perigee moon.
Mom says that it is closer to us and very big, like my eyes!
Mom took some pictures. It was pretty cloudy and
she had to wait for breaks.Good thing she did as we have
had foggy nights since, and rain is in the forecast.
The moon peeking out from the clouds.
Almost looks spooky!
Big and round.
Mom said the cloudy moon reminded her of a poem
by Alfred Noyes called "The Highwayman"
Especially the first stanza:
THE wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.
What lovely photos. It's too bad you weren't there with the moon!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are really wonderful photos! And the poem is so perfect to accompany them!

Beautiful pictures of the perigee moon! And we think Tillie is a great complement to the moon. Black cats with big bright eyes :)
ReplyDeleteThe moon are so beautiful, but I prefer your sweet eyes!
ReplyDeleteThose were fabulous pictures. We were lucky to have a clear night, and it's a good thing we didn't wait as it was rainy the next night and cloudy the night after that!

Our survunts howled at it. They're a bit weird.
ReplyDeleteLove your poem!
What fantastic photos! That is our favorite one of you, Tillie. My woman vaguely remembers that poem. Great imagery, purrfect for that moon. We saw the moon through the small octagonal window high up the wall; purrfectly framed.
