As for the crops, you have to have several cold snaps to make the oranges tast sweet, is what the Human tells me. Cats cannot tast sweet so it doesn't matter, nor do they eat oranges or other citrus, but the humans need it to stay healthy. Most of the groves have heat lamps that will kick in if we get to frost conditions, like we did the other night.
The other other crops need to get covered. I think this means a plastic covering of some type. There is a joke about knitting little sweaters for the cucumbers, but while humans can be silly they are not THAT silly!
