Remembrance Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month,
Canadians are asked to pause and remember
the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives
fighting for freedom and democracy during the First World War,
the Second World War, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict
and during peacekeeping missions.

Today is Remembrance Day.
The day we remember all the brave people who fought
and are fighting for our freedoms. Ceremonies are held across the country.

This is at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa,Canada.

After the ceremony, people who attended place their lapel poppies on the Tomb.

This is the War Memorial in Point Pleasant Park, Halifax Nova Scotia

It is facing the sea.

Thank you to all the beans that served and are serving our country.
Because of them,I can live in peace .
(and have Temptations, stinky goodness, naps and snuggles :) Thank You!

Very nice, Mickey. My grandpa is an army veteran too, so we celebrated yesterday.

That poem always makes me cry, and when I visited Flanders it was displayed in a museum in Ypres...

Thank you Mickey for reminding us to remember those who sacrifice...

This is such a nice post, Mickey, thank you. When my mom was my age, lots and lots of people used to wear poppies on this day. Nowadays, very rarely do you see it--too many people just take the day off and shop instead of remembering and honoring.

That was a lovely post Micky!
We remember all men, women from all countries, all those that banded together and fought to give us what we have today.
This is why we love the Tomb of the unknown soldier so much, it represents everyone, because without all these countries coming together...
We will remember them.. all... always

Hi Mickey, purr, purr! We are all remembering those who protect us and give their lives to service today. The pic of you is very beautiful. I hope all is well in the north woods. Did you have a pretty fall?

Such a perfectly reflective tribute to those who gave themselves to the cause of freedom all over the world.
Lest we forget...in Flander's field they lay....
