These two deer were enjoying eating grass and weeds.
Julie thought they were huge and was glad
she was inside.
This deer was in the woods across our road
at the end of the driveway.
These are baby groundhogs.
As you can see, they blend in well with
their surroundings!
Mum's sister managed to get this pawsome
shot on a baby at the fence.
Mum was not happy to see this big
fishing spider .
At least it was on the outside!!!
Mum saw this big bird on Friday as she
was putting out birdseed.
This morning, she saw some of these birds!
There were at least 4 of them in the trees around the yard!
Mum got this picture of the birds flying over the
lake that is down the hill and across the main road .
She was surprised at how many there were .
She got a picture of 6 but there were more!
Any idea of what kind of bird it is?
Mum thinks it might be a turkey vulture.
Since it is our blog, we need to make an appearance.
Julie did not want to pose.
Little sister is a diva at times. MOL!!

Those big birds with the red heads are Turkey Vultures, and they eat road kill! They also fly very high up, using thermals to get 'way up. We have a bunch around us too, and they are surprisingly big! The bird your mom saw while putting out birdseed appears to be a juvenile hawk of some kind, because of those molting feathers. Am not enough of a bird expert to know exactly what kind of hawk; red-tailed, cooper's, or sharp-shinned maybe.
You have so many critters visiting your yard! They (except the spider!) are adorable. We have had turkey vultures visiting around here and they are really huge.
Enjoy your critter TV! Happy Monday :-)

Those turkey vultures look huge!
Hello sweetie girls. You sure have some interesting critter neighbors!
You both look great, such cuties. That does look like a turkey vulture and they usually do seem to be in groups. XO
Those big birds do look like turkey vultures! No offense to them, but they are kind of homely - I'd rather see you kitties. MOL!
the boyz just see rabbits and squirrels. you guys are lucky.
We can only hear lots of birds in the recent quiet but we never see them. And we never get fun visitors like you get!
Yup, those are turkey vultures. Not the most attractive birds, but great for cleaning up dead things. If you startle them, they might barf on you! You have a great variety of critters visiting you.
You have some pretty good Critter TV in your yard. Though the mom says she wouldn’t want that spider around her.
You have a lot of critters in your yard! The turkey vulture is a huge bird, stay inside.
purrs,
Mindy and mom
The doggies here tried in vain to bark away a pair of those same vultures...I think they were scouting for a nesting place...yikes! The other big bird in the trees is some kind of hawk, I imagine. Not easy to identify!
Those baby groundhogs are cute...but even they will fight hard if cornered. MJF tried a few time to get them, and petcretary had to go and rescue them...and they even tried to fight her. Sheesh.
And by the way: hope you had a Happy Victoria Day!
You know, since mom took that bird feeder away from where I used to watch them, (moved it) the deer don't come there to eat all the bad food any more. So I don't get to see them. Mom said 2-3 pounds of food a day was getting too expensive. As if!
You are so lucky to have so much wild life around there to watch. Great pictures.
Your critters are all different from ours! We just get little birds, squirrels, lizards and mice! And sometimes hedgehogs but they tend to come out at night.
Purrs,
Tama and Genji
Whoa! Look at all those amazing critters at your place, Georgia and Julie! We love them all, but the spider and vultures kinda scare us. You both look adorable, as always. Love and hugs to you and Mum!
OMC! Vishus deer and Vulturesses! We would be careful...
We only get to see birds and squirrels! You're so lucky!
You have really cool neighbors ! Purrs
