Julie: Mum likes to read in the upstairs hallway.
There is a nook with a sofa just under a window.
I like to sit with mum when she reads there.

There is a window behind us that looks out
on the street .It is a small window just my size.
I am slowly getting used to this place.
Mum wishes I would come out of my room more
and maybe come downstairs.
It seems in my older years, I am used to the quiet
of our place. Auntie's place still feels strange.
Hey! At least I'm not hiding...much!
I do like to go behind this sofa for naps though.
It is quiet and no one will sneak up om me.
All in all I am pretty happy and I know mum
is happy to be spending her days with me.
We both like this retirement thing!!!

Take all the time you need, and someday we'll hear about how you have decided to own the whole place.
That sounds like a nice spot to spend time with your mum.

You and your mom having time to read together is quite lovely. I hope you get the help pick out which book she has. And as forgetting on the floor behind the couch, well what Kitty doesn't find a secret place like that.
A reading nook sounds like the perfect spot to snuggle up with your mum, Julie. And if you never feel like exploring all through your new home, well, that's perfectly fine!
Julie, when I'm listening to an audiobook on my phone, I sometimes lay down on the bed, and Sweetie crawls onto my chest for a nap, or just to enjoy going up and down, up and down with my breathing.
Question: did you and your mom move permanently?

Julie, you and Mom will be helping to rule the household. Well, actually YOU will be helping to rule. Well, actually, you probably aready do! Doing it from upstairs is fitting for a Queen such as you because that's where your throne is...the couch. . Do you sleep with mum at night?

The reading nook sounds heavenly and it sounds as if you have some favorite spots. Why explore the entire house when you have such wonderful quiet spots at your paws. MOL Chimera can most often be found hiding in a closet when she isn't outside.
